I’ve been hidden under my computer desk these past couple of weeks, waiting for feedback from beta readers on my second book. This is the first time that I’ve taken this route. This past year has been a huge learning curve for me and I’ve picked up a plethora of tips that established authors use to improve their work. One of those is to use a group of readers to critique their work before they submit to publishers.
Last week, I got my first response and it was very positive. Phew! This was from a fellow crime writer and reader whose work I’ve read and have great respect for. The compliments were wonderful to receive, as always, and she also picked up on a couple of points that I hadn’t considered, giving me some useful feedback to work on. So, I’m working on those at the moment and this weekend it goes to another beta – we’ll see what that brings.
